This is a 2 Day Class. The class sample is available for you to look at, although you are encouraged to make it your own with changes that fit your style. We'll learn the background of whole cloth quilts, Look at completed projects and learn several ways to design your own. The project itself will consist of drawing the main designs on your own or using my prepared template with a light box. We'll review all the designs used, allow time for practice and then set off to complete our project. This is a fabulously fun event! Most students go home with a completed project minus binding! Students need to have taken my Beginning and More Free Motion Quilting classes or have a good control of their free motion quilting.

Cost: $ 100.00
A class for quilters who desire to master their free motion quilting skills. This is NOT an advanced class for students who have conquered free motion quilting, but rather an extension of my Basic Free Motion Quilting class, which should have already been completed. We will simply be learning MORE free motion quilting. You will learn my three keys to More Free Motion Quilting, new quilting designs, , all over quilting designs, sashing and border designs, modern designs, block specific designs, background fills and grid work.. You will receive five hours of more free motion quilting instruction and hands on practice time. The last 30-45 minutes is what everyone awaits: bring that unfinished quilt top and join Penny and your fellow students in brainstorming free motion quilting designs and thread selection for that quilt you just don't know how to quilt?!

Cost: $ 50.00
Ruler Work Class Information Sheet Taught by Penny Olive This class will be fun! The quilting industry has been flooded with all types of rulers/templates so to keep your cost low, I will be bringing every ruler I have for you to try using. I have plenty of straight and curved rulers as well as several specialty rulers. However, if you have your own rulers/templates, please bring those so you can experiment with, and learn to use, what you personally own. No ruler purchase will be required for this class though several will be available for optional purchase. Those will be the ones I consider my favorites and most useful in my quilting. The focus of this class is the use of rulers with your domestic sewing machine. However, most of the information in this class is transferrable to your sit down or longarm machine. Here is a synopsis of what will be covered during your full and fun day of quilting: ●Using rulers / templates on a domestic machine -Why is a ruler foot needed and the difference between high and low shanks ●How to use rulers and experimenting with using them ●Instruction on, and practice with, using rulers in different ways for quilting blocks, borders and specialty designs (we will be focusing on using straight and curved rulers) Because using rulers is still done with free motion , it is preferred that students have done some free motion quilting or have taken the Basic Free Motion Quilting class taught by Penny Olive. Times:10:00am to 4:00pm (one hour lunch on your own) ***Please be present at 9:30 am for machine set up Required supplies: -Sewing machine in good working order and set for free motion quilting -Marking tool for light fabric -Fresh quilting or top stitch needle (80/12 recommended) -Thread (top and bobbin) -Practice quilt sandwich of your own (you can use quilt sandwiches from my previous classes but I suggest you approach this class with a couple of new sandwiches made from fat quarters so they can be used as resources specifically for ruler work. Muslin will still work great or any light colored fat quarter. -Ruler foot for your specific designated machine Optional supplies:-Machine extension bed (recommended) -Machine quilting gloves (I LOVE Machingers) Note: While optional, I find them extremely helpful when working with rulers/templates -Any longarm rulers you own (Penny will also provide her own rulers for you to try out and use) -Straight quilting rulers for marking (one shorter and one longer) -Note pad and pen/pencil You can find Penny Olive on Facebook at Penny Olive, Free Motion Quilting Educator and on Youtube.com as Penny Olive.
